American aircraft manufacturer Cleo Robotics has announced the commercial availability of its state-of-the-art Dronut X1 drone designed for unmanned surveillance in GPS-denied environments. Described as the world’s first bi-rotor ducted drone, the Dronut X1 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon and uses light detection and ranging technology for obstacle detection. It also features a sensor suite built for image and data collection. The small-sized Dronut X1 also has completely enclosed propellers, allowing it to safely bounce off objects during operations conducted in confined spaces where no other drones or robotic vehicles can go. The donut-lookalike includes a rechargeable battery that allows a flight time of up to 12 minutes and takes 40 minutes to fully recharge.
